Shelagh News
- Birthday wishes are extended to Muriel Gorman who celebrated her 60th birthday with a party in Naomh Malachi over the weekend.
– Congratulations to Sharon and Brendan Callaghan on the birth of their baby boy, Jack.
– Best wishes to Orla, Rachel, and Nicola Begley on their new business venture, NOR Boutique in Crossmaglen.
– CPR/Defib training will take place on Monday, April 10th at 7pm in Naomh Malachi. Cost €10 for club members or €20 for non members. For more information contact Fra.
– There was great excitement at Agnews’ cottage in Courtbane on Tuesday last when award-winning country star Robert Mizzell, his band and camera crew came to shoot the video for “Two Rooms And A Kitchen” which was penned by local songwriter Nuala Woods. The video stars local residents in 1940s clothing reenacting a variety of traditional activities inspired by the song lyrics. The shoot took place on location at the stunning thatched cottage that has been lovingly restored by Tommy, Betty and family in recent years. This eagerly awaited video will be released in the coming weeks.
– We send happy retirement wishes to Joe Fee who has hung up the tools after many years of service with FÁS and Solas.
– Naomh Malachi are planning a walkway around the pitch at their grounds in Courtbane. This facility will be available for all in the local and wider community to use as part of a healthier, active lifestyle. Should you wish to help out in any way, contact any member of the committee.
– Well done to all from the community who took part in the annual Pat Gogarty Trail Walk/Run on St Patricks morning in Jenkinstown Forest. All proceeds to charity.
– Jive lessons continue in Naomh Malachi on Monday evenings from 8pm. 
A fantastic dance teacher is on hand to get you all right up to date with the jiving craze that is sweeping the country currently. All ages and skill levels welcome to come and take part in a great evenings fun!
– Beginners Irish dancing classes for children aged 5 upwards continue in Naomh Malachi from 4pm-5pm each Monday. This fantastic initiative encourages Irish culture and exercise in our youth and community. First class is free; €20 per month thereafter.
– Ciorcal Comhra continue every Thursday night in Naomh Malachi from 8pm. All welcome. Fáilte!
– Football training continues on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 8pm under Paul McShane. All players in the area are welcome to train. Contact Fra for further details.

– Commiserations to our U14 players who lost out in the Féile quarter final over the weekend to Glen Emmets. Earlier in the week, the players, including Aaron Gogarty, Shane McMenamin and Andrew Begley claimed a victory over St Marys.

– Louth GAA Coaching & Games are looking for coaches for the Louth GAA Kellogg’s Cúl Camps which will be taking place at various venues throughout the county this summer. They are looking for both lead coaches (18 years +) and assistant coaches (16/17 year olds). Contact Tracey for more information.
– Club membership is now due and closes on March 31st. Adults: €50. Family: €75. Students/OAPs: €25. Your annual subscription contributes greatly to the running of your club. Contact Ruairi Daly. All members will be published on the website accordingly and will be included in our annual draw for All-Ireland tickets.
– Our club shop section has been added to the O’Neills website where you can purchase club merchandise (https://www.oneills.com/shop-by-team/gaa/ireland/naomh-malachi-gfc.html). A portion of the revenue from these sales will go back into the club.
