Shelagh News
– Congratulations to local lad David Begley who married Bernadette Clarke on Friday.

- Congratulations to Ronan Lynch who successfully defended his PhD research in his viva voce last week and gained his doctorate.

- Welcome home to Brian, Ciaran, Gary and Shane Rogers.

- Happy 30th Birthday to Liam McCann.

- GAA training for U6, U8 & U10 children continues in Naomh Malachi every Friday night at 6.30pm. All children within the Shelagh area are welcome. Contact Micheal (087 2695290)

- Congratulations to Joey, Joanne, Jerry, Micheal and Michelle who completed the 180km Ring of Kerry cycle last weekend. Ouch!

Shelagh Youth Club
– A great day was had at our 8th Annual Vintage Run on Sunday, 28th June. We had 100 vehicles from far and near in the event and we were once again blessed with good weather. Thank you to all the drivers for their loyal support, and to all who helped out at the club with stewarding and making the tea and sandwiches.

A very special thank you to our vintage organising committee of Patrick McArdle, Gerry Murtagh, Micheal Meegan who do a huge amount of behind the scenes work each year in the run up to this event. A special mention of thanks to James O Callaghan for his hay making skills on the day. Prize winners were as follows at our awards ceremony at the Square in Crossmaglen. Our MC once again this year was Terry Hearty.

Mickey and Kitty Begley Memorial Award for Best Original Tractor: Gavin Gogarty (International 784)
Mick Daly Memorial Award for Most Experienced Driver: John Byrne, Inniskeen

Judges Special Award: Dessie McAleavey for his restored Thames Truck.

A special thank you to Francie McBride for generously sponsoring medals for all the drivers who took part this year.
 Thank you to our Judges Jimmy Gorman and James McArdle Shelagh. All local businesses who donated money, prizes or food where promoted on our sponsor boards on the day. We are very grateful for all the support that was received. Thank you in particular to Savages Bakery and McNamees Bakery for their support. Thanks to Irish Country Quads and Aughamullen Pipe Band for providing the entertainment for all ages on the day. A very special thanks to the Safety Group in Crossmaglen, Anthony Donnelly and all the stewards on the Route.

- A night of memories will be held on Saturday, August 1st in the clubrooms to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the 1990 IFC final against St Josephs. A DVD of the final will be shown and there is sure to be plenty of craic on the night with some of the Joe’s men paying the clubrooms a visit. All welcome. Doors open at 9pm.
